Lagos Island LGA Flags off Road Construction

The Lagos Island Local Government Area has flagged-off the construction of Sanusi Olusi and Agarawu Streets as part of efforts by the State Government to fulfill its pledge to the people at the grassroots as well as tackle the traffic gridlocks on Lagos Island.

Speaking at the flag off ceremony held last week at Sanusi Olusi Street, Oke-Arin, the Executive Secretary of the Council, Prince Adetoyese Olusi stated that the two major roads slated for construction in the Local Government are part of the 114 roads project recently approved by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for immediate construction in the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.

He pointed out that the road construction project, which is line with the overall vision of Governor Ambode for the State, would not only meet the needs of the masses but will enhance commercial activities in all benefitting communities after completion.

The Executive Secretary also disclosed that the leaders and members of the Community Development Association (CDA) in the area have been mandated to monitor and protect the project when work commences, as well as cooperate fully with the contractors for successful completion of the project.

While soliciting for the patience and understanding of the residents during the period of construction, Olusi implored the two construction companies to count themselves lucky to have been chosen out of all those that applied for the contract, adding that they must deliver high standard projects in order to have the opportunity of being considered for future projects.

Prince Olusi noted that Sanusi Olusi Street road construction project was awarded to RR International Limited at a cost of N124million, while that of Agarawu Street was awarded to G&Q Enterprises at a cost of N68million.
The completion period for the two road projects is six months.
