Lagos Compensates Owner of Demolished Property

Lagos State Government has paid the sum of four million Naira to one Mr. Monday Imoni as compensation for his property that was demolished for planned road construction exercise embarked upon to create new access roads for motorists and pedestrians in Orelope area of Alimosho Local Government.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ganiyu Johnson presented the cheque to Mr. Imoni, owner of the building located at 6, Fadahunsi Drive, Gbeleyi, Pipeline, at his Alausa office.

The affected building was found within the Right of Way (RoW) thereby obstructing the on-going works for the rehabilitation/upgrading of Isiba Oluwo Street in Alimosho Local Government.

While presenting the cheque to Monday Imoni in his office in the presence of his lawyer, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson thanked Imoni for his understanding and love for the infrastructural development of the State and the spirit of love for others.

Johnson therefore implored others whose property may fall within the Right of Way of on-going projects in the State to emulate Imoni by not dragging the State to court thereby delaying infrastructural development projects that will be beneficial to the masses.

Meanwhile, Monday Imoni who was accompanied by his lawyer to the presentation thanked the State Government for the gesture of compensation, saying if the State were to wield its total hammer on him through the extant laws, he would have been left with little option; he pledged that his unflinching support for the State government would remain for life.
