Nautical Architecture along the Lagos Lagoon

This nautical architecture is a beauty.

5C Tower, mixed use (offices (predominantly) and restaurants at rooftop and water/jetty level), was designed in 2006 to overlook the 5 Cowrie Creek, situated on Victoria Island and looking toward Ikoyi. Its original intended location is now occupied by the Lekki -Epe expressway
first toll gate.
The influence of nautical architecture and design (of sea going craft) is evident visually. The triangular shape-roofline hides a penthouse terrace and mimics the sail of a ship. The two tall towers housing stacked water tanks evoke chimneys/steampipes, further cementing the seafare symbolism.

The architecture is otherwise modernist, white, transparent and light……sun-shaded views are maximised toward the waterfront and to the road. The front (street) and rear (lagoon view) facades are more or less identical, and designed to make an iconic and architecturally edifying statement of the building.
