LASG Inaugurates Committee on Village Excision
The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a 24-member Technical Committee on Village/Community Excision as part of efforts by the present administration to resolve issues and procedures on village excision and other land related matters.
The members of the technical committee, which was created to formulate new procedure for processing Village/Community Excision issues, were drawn from various land-handling Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the state government.
Speaking during the inauguration, Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Mr. Bode Agoro, said it is expedient to reconstitute the former Technical Committee in order to stem down slum development, enhance effective land titling and physical planning/development guide in line with the State’s Master Plan policy.
He attributed the delay in dealing with issues relating to the demand for village excisions, land resettlements and other related subjects to restructuring in the state civil service and other challenges which the present administration is already making efforts to resolve.
It would be recalled that a Technical Committee was constituted to assist the Land Use and Allocation Committee (LUAC) on issues related to village excision and other land resettlement matters in accordance with the provision of the Executive Order No EO/ BRF/014 of June, 2009.
