WORK COMMENCES ON REHABILITATION OF AJASA-COMMAND, ABESAN ROADS
Residents Laud Ambode
Barely two weeks after Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode inspected the state of Ajasa-Command and Abesan roads, work has commenced on the rehabilitation of the stretch of road linking Church Road to Abesan.
A visit to the area on Wednesday confirmed the commencement of work on the roads by the State Government.
Work has also commenced in the Command axis of the road.
During the inspection tour, Governor Ambode had expressed displeasure on the state of Ajasa-Command and Abesan roads, and assured residents of the area that work would commence on the rehabilitation of the roads within the next two weeks.
When our correspondent visited the areas, it was noticed that contractors have already moved to Church Road leading to Abesan through Giwa Street, while many shop owners on the road from Agbelekale Junction are already removing them from the road.
Besides, it was also observed that the street lights from Abule-Egba through Ekoro Road to Agbelekale Junction currently works at night, while serious work is being done to connect the street light on the other stretch of the road to Command from Agbelekale Junction.
A resident of the area and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaja Fatimo Balogun (Faaji) commended Governor Ambode for keeping the promise he made to the people barely within two weeks.
"This development is a confirmation of the fact that the welfare of the people is very paramount to the Governor. For a Governor to come to this area, made promise to the people that the road will be fixed in two weeks as well as street light and drainage systems, and work has already commenced as promised, is a thing of joy to us.
"We in the APC in this area are very proud of the Governor. We are behind him and we indeed wish him well in his quest to massively develop the State," Balogun said.
Another resident of the area, Mr Adetunji Adewale, said with the level of passion and commitment of Governor Ambode to continue in the tradition of development that Lagos has always been known for and doing so with improvement, the Governor would soon be adjudged as the best in Nigeria.
"I can see many awards coming for the Governor in no long distant future and my advice for him is to stay focused on his developmental agenda and not allow any distractions to set in.
"I will also like the Governor to ensure that the quality of job being done is of international standard, and then the Governor must up his game in the area of enforcing the traffic laws and other laws aimed at bringing sanity to the polity and the environment," Adewale counseled.
